About the Author

Arjan Zuiderhoek is Full Professor of Ancient History at Ghent University, Belgium. He has worked primarily on the socio-political and socio-economic history of Greek cities under the Roman Empire, and also has a strong interest in the Greek city in earlier periods, and broader socio-economic themes. His publications include The Ancient City and Space, Movement and the Economy in Roman Cities in Italy and Beyond .
