Jonathan Kellerman has been turning out crime novels since 1985 when his first novel When the Bough Breaks was published. Right out of the box he won the Edgar Allan Poe and Anthony Boucher Awards for Best First Novel, and his book was made into a TV movie.

When the Bough Breaks was followed by 25 other Alex Delaware novels. Alex Delaware is a psychologist who aids his friend, Milo, a L.A. homicide detective catch killers. Her first book Ritual Bath won the Macavity Award for the Best First Novel from the Mystery Readers of American. Faye Kellerman started her career as a dentist, but became a writer about the same time as her husband.

The book not only introduced Detective Peter Decker and Rina Lazarus. What is initially, in the first book, the relationship involving a detective and a crime victim, Faye Kellerman manages to capture the complex troubles, love and growth of the relationship beweet a homicide cop who marries a woman of Jewish faith with two growing boys. That it’s all wrapped up in a series of compelling mysteries makes sitting down and reading them a thorough joy.
